Translation

Lingo encountered so far:

singlet = tank top
thongs = flip flops, but also sometimes actual thongs
togs = bathing suits
hotels = pubs/bars, most of the time
Vegemite = food item similar in appearance to nutella, a by-product of beer-making
sunnies = sunglasses
tomato (pronounced toe-MA-toe) sauce = ketchup
lemonade = Sprite/7up (generally)

  • Man all of that makes sense except for lemonade. What gives?

    When I was in costal Labrador, you couldn't get a poutine, but you could get "fries gravy an' cheese sauce". Which had cheese instead of cheese sauce.

  • I have no idea. Although in some places it *did* taste more lemony. But that's no excuse.

    You'd think "poutine" would be simpler to order.

    Oh, also, if you order tomato sauce with your chips, you generally get this tiny tiny amount. It's no Heinz-on-the-table serving. Their aioli with fries is, however, deeeelish.

  • Vegemite. Similar in appearance to Nutella, but not similar in taste. AT ALL.
