I had to rake leaves this weekend. I had a couple of options in the rake department, and have concluded that metal rakes are not optimal for raking large amounts of leaves. Large plastic rakes are ideal.

aside from not being able to jump in big piles, isn't it actually better to just leave leaves where they are?

The bylaws require you to have your lawn free of household waste, which category apparently includes leaves.
Also, leaves will eventually decompose and such, but I don't think that's good for the grass.

Delayed response, sorry.
Also, the leaves have some fungus or similar on them, and we were told to rake them away or it would get to other trees.
